Spanish police arrested 60 people in a nationwide crackdown on Chinese mobsters and accomplices suspected of laundering money from prostitution and extortion. A Spanish porn star was among those arrested.
Arrests and searches are continuing in the operation and involves 300 police officers, the interior ministry said.
Among those arrested was Nacho Vidal, an international porn star. Also held was a councillor for the Fuenlabrada district in southern Madrid, which is home to the huge Cobo Calleja trading estate, considered the biggest Chinese wholesale hub in Europe. Spanish media published photographs of police carrying out searches at Chinese businesses in Cobo Calleja, known as a source of cheap goods imported from China.
