When do YOU hit the thanks button?

What are your rules for hitting that thanks button?

In the last eight months, I have adopted the following policies:

1) Never hit the thanks button until you download, and the download PLAYS.

2) I hit the thanks button for a duplicate post, even if I downloaded and thanked the other post, but the duplicate post provides additional information.

3) Never hit the thanks button when your antivirus software prompts the rapidgator download "has dangerous content, download at your own risk." I hit "cancel," not thanks.

4) Thank anybody who makes a meaningful addition to a thread I started.

5) Sometimes if I agree with a comment, or if the comment is funny, I hit Thanks, doesn't hurt.

6) Sometimes I backtrack a whole week of downloads and make sure I hit the thanks button.

7) Even if I download, watch one time, and delete, the post still deserves thanks. The fact that I didn't like it should not diminish the efforts of the poster. I was interested enough to download, should still get thanks.



So, anyone else have a hard rule? When to hit thanks? When to avoid thanks? Sometimes I think there should be a "gong" button.
