Rename + Organise multiple files in multiple folders

Happy New Year to Everyone.

I'm wondering the best way to rename files that sit within a number of separate folders so they all sit in order, in one folder.

I've downloaded a number of comic book anthologies. They are ordered by folder number, then by comic number.

So for example;

Folder 1 may have comics numbered 1 - 10
Folder 2 may have comics numbered 1 - 40

etc etc

Is there some way, perhaps using automator that I can have all the files in one folder, sequentially ordered?

In the above example, the comics would be numbered 1 - 50

I know it can be done if the files sit in one folder already, not sure about multiple folders!
